Home EV chargers — get up to £500 off with an OZEV grant

It's likely you'll charge your car at home most of the time. We're authorised by the government (OZEV) to install home electric vehicle charge points safely and reliably, with full manufacturer warranties.

Government grants of up to £500 towards the cost of your chargepoint installation are available if you rent your home, or own a flat, with private off-street parking, or own or rent a house with on-street parking only (using an approved cross-pavement charging solution, such as a charging gully).

Because we're an authorised installer, we claim the grant on your behalf — you simply pay the reduced price.

No driveway? You may still be able to charge at home

If you park on the street outside your house, you have probably been told a home charger isn't an option for you — and that trailing a cable across the pavement isn't allowed. That is starting to change, and it is worth two minutes of your time to find out where your own council has got to.

A cross-pavement channel is a shallow, covered gully set into the footway between your house and the kerb. Your charging cable drops into it and the lid sits flush, so nothing is left lying across the pavement for anyone to trip over. Where a council has a scheme running, residents can apply for a channel and then have a proper home charger fitted — and charge on their own domestic electricity tariff instead of paying public charge point rates.

It also unlocks the government grant. The OZEV chargepoint grant of £500 per socket is available to households with on-street parking only, provided the installation uses an approved cross-pavement solution. Without the channel there is no grant; with it, there is.

Schemes are being rolled out council by council, and progress is uneven. As things stand in August 2026, Enfield has a scheme live and Haringey is planning one, while several other North London boroughs haven't started. That is exactly why the check below is worth doing — the answer depends on which side of a borough boundary you live on.

We work with Kerbo Charge, who supply and install the channel and handle the council licence application. We do the electrical side — the chargepoint itself, the supply, the protective devices and the certification — and we claim the OZEV grant on your behalf so it comes straight off your invoice.

Check whether your street qualifies

Enter your postcode below and it will tell you whether your council has a scheme running, is trialling one, is planning one, or hasn't started yet. It takes a few seconds and there is no obligation.

Checking…

Your postcode is used only to look up your local authority. We don't store it, and we don't ask for your name or contact details here. If you go on to register with Kerbo Charge, you'll deal with them directly and their privacy policy applies. If we then carry out your charger installation, we'll share your name, address and email with Kerbo Charge so they can confirm the referral — we'll tell you before we do that.

If your area is live, you'll be pointed to the right place to register. If it isn't, there is usually still a way to register your interest — councils size these schemes on how many residents ask for one, so it genuinely counts.

And if the answer is "not yet", call us anyway. A surprising number of houses we're told have no off-street parking turn out to have something workable — a side return, a shared drive, rear access, or a neighbour's arrangement. It costs nothing to have a look, and if there is a way to fit you a charger now, we'll tell you. If there isn't, we'll say so.

How it works, start to finish

  1. Check your postcode using the tool above.
  2. Register with Kerbo Charge and they apply for the licence from your council.
  3. Once the licence is approved, get in touch with us and we'll book the chargepoint installation in around the channel work.
  4. We install and certify the chargepoint, notify it where notification is required, and claim your £500 grant.

Call 020 7101 4074 or email info@jfemservices.uk if you'd like to talk it through first. We're on Salisbury Road in Wood Green, so we cover Haringey, Enfield, Barnet and the surrounding North London area, and we're happy to look at the property before you commit to anything.

EV charging for your business — £500 off every socket with the Workplace Charging Scheme

Run a shop, office, workshop, café or other small business in Wood Green, Haringey or anywhere in North London? The government's Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) gives businesses, charities and public sector organisations up to £500 per charging socket, covering up to 75% of installation costs, for up to 40 sockets.

That means offering EV charging to your staff and customers — or your own work van — can cost a fraction of the full price.

How it works: you apply online for a WCS voucher (takes minutes — we'll walk you through it); the voucher is emailed to you within about 5 working days; we install your chargepoints as an authorised installer and claim the grant directly, so the discount comes straight off your bill; installation must be completed within 180 days of your voucher being issued.

The grant is only available through authorised installers like us, and the current £500 rate is confirmed until 31 March 2027 — so it's a good time to get it done.

Local to you: we're based on Salisbury Road in Wood Green (N22), so for businesses in Haringey, Enfield, Barnet and across North London we can usually survey your site quickly and quote the same week.
